Two poem by one of our Liverpool participants, Ebtisam Elghblawi, who was inspired by our conversations to write verse .
Merseyside winds
In the old Mersey
Where tides blow so high menacing
Breaking space and time
Disrupting the content of life
When wells and tapes scream out loud
In the silent water flow
Impounded souls
A crafted cry, to burn the house
A tale of explosive purging
Where souls were stitched
In Liverpool docks
Cholera crept and knitted unseen
Born a filthy stream
A storytelling of mended wounds
Grave robbing - emboldened corpse dissecting
A deadly sip in the dark shadow casting

Women, Water, and Wisdom: Ritual Practices for International Women’s Day
My water ritual
Wove a language of beauty and purity
To the clearest stream
To quench the thirst
Like a sky over a narrow water
Pray welcome wudhu
As a jar of purist roses
As a Muslim, i have a constant special connection with water throughout the day
Wudhu is the ritual daily wash, five times a day, before the call of prayer
A daily gift to cleanse
A rhythmic spiritual elevation
A life disciplines
A reminder of self-control, to life distractions
A lifelong endeavour
To resist urges
For a great purpose
A silent, powerful act of faith
A habit ingrained in the true believers
A self-portrait, to train the brain
A perseverance to maintain a constant bond to Allah Almighty
Water cupped heavenly in the palm
Whispering to run fresh on the flesh
Drag feet in the field
Wudhu is stillness with water to calm the heart and soul
Water is a soul constant caller before each pray
To be ready in chastity
Like rains came undone
A musical rehearsing
Precise and metallic silence
With care to cross
The slippage of divine
Painting holiness
In undulation, to hook life
