We’re bringing people together for a pooling party in Margate. These are gatherings that pop up in community spaces – just humans and microbes coming together to share resources, ideas and a bit of bacterial wisdom.
Tidal pools are amazing. They’re temporary, precarious, and somehow teeming with life — because everything in them has learned to adapt, share, and hold on together. Inspired by the Walpole Tidal Pool, that’s the spirit we’re bringing to People Dem Collective this April.
We will move between conversation and hands-on activities exploring what bacterial strategies might offer us as activists, organisers, and people who care about the state of our water (and other issues like rising facism, state violence, structural inequality, racial capitalism…). If you’re angry about sewage spills, curious about the ecology of resistance, or just want to think differently about collective action, this is for you.
The learning won’t stop at sewage (though we will absolutely talk about sewage). Whether you come as an activist, an artist, a scientist, a concerned swimmer, or just a curious person, there will be something in this for you.
Home-made lunch is provided. Come hungry!
