We had a wonderful time sharing our project during The Ecological Citizens Festival: EC in Action day on the Thursday 18th September 2025 at the Museum of Making, Derby.

The Ecological Citizens Festival was a one-day, in-person event championing a creative, collaborative gathering for artists, scientists, designers, community leaders, researchers, activists and others who are asking: What does it mean to be an ecological citizen today?

The Flow.Walk.Drag. team presented Waterways & Waste Mapping, an interactive workshop offering a taster in our creative, co-production approach. Inspired by the co-creation methodology that resulted in our Liverpool Cholera Walking Tour and Margate E. coli Promenade Performance, we elicited and explored participant stories of water, waste, ritual, connection and concerns. Our post-it note cartography explored the hopes and fears of attendees reflecting on water, waste and infrastructure.

The conversation was vibrant and hopeful – ritual, urination, swimming and the democratic agency of nature!
We had a generative time speaking with the others on the day, dreaming, crafting, eating and connecting with others working towards a greener, fairer world. Can’t wait for the next one.
